We are left barren and rabid in their cruel joke joke delivered so brutishly under the guise of prosperity. The dream is dead and always was. No room for hope. No way to cope. I doubt there was anything that could have softened the blow of this collision. We breathe then choke. The air is stuck. Your chin's held up, but cut at the throat. The distance now. The steep drop down. The disconnect. The total sever. Spilling out between your fingers.

Placing blame in every false direction. Shame on you, but more on me. For ever steady is the dull sensation. Ever steady is the likeness of the days. It's always, oh it's always something. Strong, intrusive, ugly feelings linger as a keen reminder of you, The Absence. There until I say I've finally had it or for as long as I let it stay. It's you. It's you always the absence. Feeding off what can't be faced. Burrowed in too deep to tame. Ever steady in your awful ways.
