It stopped me dead in my tracks
Wet footprints formed the length of the corridor
Steaming against the hardwood
Inching ever closer
Betrayed by my senses
Double taken aback and petrified
By a horrifying visage
Vague, macabre, and undefined
I pleaded, "wake me. Save me from this persecution!"
But relief came not
And with a flash it was upon me
It hollowed me out
And built a home of gloom inside my heart
Suddenly, I awoke. Unnerved.
Searching every corner of the room
From my bed
I was alone. Or so it seemed.
Damned to face the day
And do it again, in my dreams
Until it finally takes me.
